When we say our formulas are made just for melanated babies, we mean it. We make them with precision and care, ensuring our littlest loves have the products they deserve. We worked closely with our Dermatologist of Color to hand-select effective, cleaner, non-stripping, extra-moisturizing, hypoallergenic ingredients that come together to create something made just for us.

We do our research so you don’t have to. We look at the latest scientific studies on melanated skin and co-formulated products with physicians of color treating melanated patients. We know you’re checking The Dirty List from Credo Beauty and the Skin Deep Database from EWG—we are, too. The bottom line? We’re doing our best and we’re constantly learning—just like you.

These are the ingredients we’re proud of, the ones that understand the assignment and put in work. All are hand-selected by our Dermatologist of Color to benefit beautiful, melanated skin.

Aloe
This green beauty anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and ready to soothe irritated skin. Aloe can improve skin elasticity, general dryness, damage from UV rays, and helps repair broken, wounded skin.
Calendula Flower
As a marigold flower, its beauty shines bright like the sun. As an extract, it is antimicrobial and antioxidant-rich which can help relieve irritated, dry skin by increasing hydration and helping diminish redness.
Jojoba Oil
Say it with us now, “huh-hoh-buh!” An antioxidant rich, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory, premium oil, it is both non-greasy because of its occlusive wax properties and deeply nourishing.
Lavender & Chamomile
Deep breath—woo-sahh… it’s a plant-based, natural fragrance—it’s loved for its calming effects. Lavender oil is antimicrobial with a relaxing, floral aroma. Chamomile is anti-inflammatory with a warm, sweet scent.
Mango Butter
M-A-N-G-O! We’re all Clovers in our dreams, so we’re cheering it on. An antioxidant-rich plant butter packed with Vitamins C + E, it creates a natural barrier to environmental stressors, giving you soft skin.
Rosehip Oil
Keep skin glowing with fruit of the rose plant. Packed with hydrating omega-3, 6 fatty acids + skin-loving Vitamin C, this restorative oil that quickly absorbs into skin, locks in hydration, and even brightens scars.
Shea Butter
We know it needs no introduction. A thick, fatty plant butter that is super hydrating, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant rich, ultimately soothing dry, irritated skin leaving it soft and supple.
Sunflower Seed Oil
Like a glass of golden hydration for thirsty skin. The lightweight, Vitamin E rich sister to the other powerhouse oils, it is the ultimate hydrator and helps skin maintain its natural barrier and stay in its neutral state.

Listen, raising our littlest loves is hard work and we want to make it just a little easier on you. We’re taking care of business and making sure our products have NO SKETCHY STUFF!™

We keep out the why-would-these-ever-be-in-a-baby-product ingredients, including the skin irritators or - gasp! - potential carcinogens and hormone disruptors. Say, ‘see ya!’ to thousands of other nasties we don’t want near our littlest loves.

And let’s talk about fragrance. Artificial or synthetic fragrances are chemical-based and they can have allergens that can trigger skin conditions. So, we’re taking extra caution with our littlest loves—absolutely no artificial fragrances. On top of that, we do our best to select the non-irritating essential oils, like our plant-powered lavender chamomile, at gentle concentrations.

THE EFFECTIVE STUFF

We want to be real with you. Some ingredients are necessary to keep the formula well-mixed and prevent bacteria and funky stuff from growing. Some preservatives should never be used in a baby product—and we’ll never use those. Others, when thoughtfully used at low concentrations, help make sure the product is effective, stable while you are using it, and antimicrobial—basically making sure it works. And of course, our Dermatologist of Color has reviewed and approved each and every one to keep your worries away and our littlest loves safe.

Products should be gentle, but also need to work.

There are other ingredients you may be wondering about. The following are used to keep the products working great and are gentle for melanated skin at thoughtful, low concentrations. We have listed them by their EWG Scores.

EWG 2: Citric Acid, Ethylhexyl Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Tocopherol Acetate

EWG 3: Dimethicone, Linalool, Sodium Benzoate
